The Law

"Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good."
Romans 7:12

"You shall have the same law for the stranger and for one from your own country; for I am the Lord your God."  Leviticus 24:22, Numbers 15:15-16

"Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers is giving you. You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you" Deuteronomy 4:1-2

"Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.' For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day? "Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren" Deuteronomy 4:6-9

"If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD..."
"Your life shall hang in doubt before you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life."
Deuteronomy 28:58 & 66

"For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. "For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?' Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?' But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. "See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply"  Deuteronomy 30:9b-16a

"So it was, when Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book, when they were finished,  that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying: "Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness against you" Deuteronomy :31:24-26

"Therefore be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, lest you turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left"  Joshua 23:6

"For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all."  James 2:10

"Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night."    Psalm 1:1-2

"The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."  Psalm 19:7-9

"The Lord knows the thoughts of man, That they are futile. Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, And teach out of Your law"  Psalm 94:11-12

"Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law"  Psalm 119:18

"The law of Your mouth is better to me Than thousands of coins of gold and silver"  Psalm 119:72

"Let Your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; For Your law is my delight."  Psalm 119:77

"Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction."  Psalm 119:92

"Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day."  Psalm 119:97

"Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth."  Psalm 119:142

"Consider my affliction and deliver me, For I do not forget Your law."  Psalm 119:153

"I long for Your salvation, O Lord, And Your law is my delight."  Psalm 119:174

"The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness' sake; He will exalt the law and make it honorable."
Isaiah 42:21

"For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."   Matthew 5:18

"Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill."
Matthew 5:17

"And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail."   Luke 16:17

"The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it."    Luke 16:16

"For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."  John 1:17

"Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses."   Acts 13:38-39

"But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, "It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses." Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter. And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: "Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they."  Acts 15:5-11

"For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law"  Romans 2:12

"for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified"
Romans 2:13

"for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel."   Romans 2:14-16

"Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God."   Romans 3:19

"Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin."   Romans 3:20

"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets"  Romans 3:21

"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law."   Romans 3:28

"Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law."  Romans 3:31

"Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more"    Romans 5:20

"but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.  As it is written: "Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."  Romans 9:31-33

"knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified."   Galatians 2:16

"I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain."
Galatians 2:21

"This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?"  Galatians 3:2

"For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."  Galatians 3:10

"But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith."
Galatians 3:11

"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us"   Galatians 3:13a

"For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law."  Galatians 3:21b

"Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith."   Galatians 3:24

"Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith"  Philippians 3:8-9

"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes."  Romans 10:4
